Animation Workshop
Andi Mac of Belfast-based Design and Animation Studio, I Love Pinatas, talks through some of the essentials of Animation using Adobe After Effects. With an impressive catalogue of work for both the chic and the corporate (Shibboleth, Social Gloo, JN Wines, North Financial & even Naomi Long!), this is aimed at being a great introduction for those with an interest or just a little knowledge, as well as a developmental workshop for those a little-better versed in AE.
Artist In Residence
Stephanie Newell is an artist currently taking up a years residency in an art centre called Departure, based in Limehouse, East London. However, for one week only, we've seconded her for the Forfey Residency...Before the festival, she'll be busy working around the farm and in her space, and during the festival itself you will be most welcome to go chat to her and see what she's doing!
Her current work in London showcases an interest in the creation of communal histories and how these are re-created in the telling. So far this has involved making a 'story map' documenting unusual sightings and occurrences in the area as told by local residents. In addition, she is building a kind of archive of 'Limehouse objects,' inviting people to bring in objects they find perhaps washed up on the Thames or lying on the street. These are displayed with empty labels inviting the viewers to create fictional histories of what happened to the objects. The collection holds many curiosities so far; ranging from a hockey stick found floating in the canal to a message in a bottle found washed up by the Thames.
Babysweet suggests...Two Door Cinema Club
In March 2010, Two Door Cinema Club released their debut album, Tourist History.
Edited and directed by the fine folks at Babysweet Sessions, this film documents the lives of the band a week before this landmark moment and takes in their last show before the album's release at Nouveau Casino, Paris on the 25th February 2010.
The film captures the band in the midst of the hype surrounding them and highlights radio and television performances, interviews and photo shoots.
Alongside discussion and commentary from TDCC themselves, also included are interviews with Chryde (Blogotheque founder), Thomas Burgel (Les Inrockuptibles), Philippe Zdar (album co-mixer), Gildas Loaec (founder of Kitsuné), Eliot James (album producer) and others.
Songs that feature are:
I Can Talk
Undercover Martyn
Something Good Can Work (acoustic)
Come Back Home
This is the Life
Cigarettes in the Theatre
Embellish
Bring something along with you to the festival and instead of buying something new, take time to adapt your own clothes by adding beads, buttons, ribbons, lace and any other small findings from the box of bits and bobs! It's also an opportunity to think about passing on the skills of craft and of making, where in older generations it would be the norm to mend, rather than throw out, and to recycle rather than buy. Come and have fun creating your own unique piece of clothing!
Fiddlers & Fairytales
The last couple of years have enjoyed 'Fries & Fairytales', kindly provided by local legends with many a tale to tell. This year, we've decided to avoid the crack of dawn starts, and so setting the trusty Ulster Fry aside, Phil McCrystal will be telling the auld yarns to full effect with the aid of his friends on the fiddles on late Saturday afternoon.

Jimbo's Plonk & Alt. Country Living
For those with a keen interest in the making of cordials, juices and the elusive 'home-brew', our trusty cordiallers give a good going-through of the key aspects of how-to - and more importantly, how-not-to - use nature's goodies to full effect. Beverages aside, the team will be talking through aspects of semi-self-sufficiency including hens, veggie patches and how to best use what's close to hand...

Windsor Film Club
Beginning as out-of-the-blue text messages from a Mr. Caswell (of the delectable Lowly Knights) announcing the airing of whatever movie had just arrived courtesy of the postie, Windsor Film Club has brought a wonderfully relaxed late-night movie session to the 1951 since 2008. Long and short is that there'll be a great motion picture...we're just not sure what it'll be until it comes through the letterbox of Forfey HQ!
